Oh, my dear DEAR friends!!! Rich and I are just so overwhelmed and encouraged by all your comments! God IS good, and He DOES most certainly have a wonderful plan for our family- a plan that will glorify Him! yes, we are still grieving the loss of Tori, and until we know that she has a "forever family" will probably always be sad when we think of her.

However, we are already bonding with Mira Kathryn Wells:) She is a beautiful little 2 1/2 year old girl and has been very loved and well taken care of (but not like if she had a family). She is a tiny thing! She has spina bifida and many complication that our daughter Lauren also has had. God has opened a door WIDE for us here in Priluki. We are the first family to ever adopt a special-needs child from this place and already we have touched many hearts! The regional inspector and the orphanage doctor and directors have LOVED hearing about Lauren and all that she can do. They are amazed and very excited about the opportunities that little Mira will have!

There is another Reeces RAinbow family coming within the next month- this place is gonna be taken by storm!!!! The harvest is here, but the workers are few!

We love you all and miss you!!! Keep emailing and commenting- we wil ltry to get to internet every few days. This is a small town with limited access to many things.

Love,
Rich and Lydia

  1. Oh, I'm so glad to read an update on how you're doing! Good thing I have a good map so I could find Priluki - it's not that far away from Kiev. I'm thrilled to know that you have found a sweet little girl to love, and what an excitement that you are the first ones ever to adopt a special needs child from there!
You'll remain in my prayers and I hope for a smooth process for you! You might open the doors for many more families to come!

  14. We printed off Mira's photo and hung it on the fridge so now we see it all day. I have talked with the kids about Mira and how they can help her when you all get home. Lauren knows Mira will be having some of the surgeries she has had so she is ready to help.We are praying at meals and bedtime for Mira and Tori.
The kids are doing great and handling separation from Mom and Dad very well - that is a grace from God! As a grandma, I personally am very thankful for Monica and Bobby - the kids love them!We will take them back on Monday morning for another 4 days.God is taking care of all of us on this side of the world and we know He is doing the same for you.
We can't wait to meet Mira - she so looks like a Wells (a grandmommy Carson/Wells)!
    Love, Mama

  16. Lydia and Rich - I am thrilled for you. Mira is just so precious. I remember Mer telling me early on that there was an issue with the child she was adopting and they adopted another, and they now see what a perfect fit she is for their family! God DOES have a plan. I can't wait to see pictures and meet this little angel.

  17. Lydia, I am so happy for you that you have found a child to adopt. God always knows best! Of course, I am disappointed to not get to meet you, but I know that it was not in vain that we "met." Now I know about the orphanage at Yolochka, and I hope to visit there soon and see how our church can get involved...
